TIGER WOODS - Welcome to the Club

Last week Eldrick “Tiger” Woods had a car accident in his back yard. He ran into a tree in his back yard and broke a fire hydrant at the corner of his back yard; he destroyed the passenger side of his car at 2 a.m. in the morning in his back yard. Tiger’s neighbors called 911 and the story should have ended there but it continues, a week later.

It is very sad to see the changes in television sports network programming and the way they currently report the news; with a specific reference to ESPN.

Provocative stories sell, sex catches your attention; a racially-tinged story sells; football player Adam "Pacman" Jones making it rain at a strip club is a story. Oh -- for those who don’t know what "making it rain" means, throwing money at scantily clad women.

ALL IN A DAY OF SPORTS

What an incredible day of sports it was on Saturday, 5/2/09. My afternoon began with the Penguins-Capitals in their game 1 match up of the Eastern Conference semi-finals. This game had plenty of skill and speed. Two of the biggest stars in the sport, Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin, each had goals and dished out big hits but the play of this game was when Caps goalie, Simeon Varlamov, made an unbelievable stick save on Crosby that stopped what looked to be an easy goal on a wide open net. The Caps win a hard fought game, 3-2.
