Guys a trade has been offered to me and wanted to run it by you before I made a decision.  Chris Johnson and Roy Williams for Steve Slaton Deon Branch.  I think I'm liking Johnson for Slaton, but I hate giving up the potential that Branch could bring to the table.  Does getting Johnson make it all worth while?  As always...any thought would be appreciated.

This is a fair trade.  I'll let Doomsday Dave chime in here as well since he is a big Chris Johnson fan.

I like the trade overall by a small margin.  Tennessee is a better team than Houston.  Even though Slaton had a nice game on Sunday, I think Johnson has more overall potential as he plays for a better team who likes to run the ball.  Lendale White's goal-line carries limits Johnson's value somewhat, but he'll still get fairly consistent yards & he'll break a long TD every now & then.

I think the WRs are about even -- Roy Williams is so talented...I have to think he'll start producing better soon.  Deion Branch is not as talented, but he's in a better offense when he gets healthy.  I don't think there is a lot of difference between the two.

Overall, I think you come out ahead slightly if you take this deal IMO.

Jetman did a nice job describing things.. The only thing that scares me about Branch is his injury history & do you know when he is back for sure, right now Roy Williams has done nothing therefore IMO your not losing much there

good luck!!

Branch and Engram are expected to play in week 5.

Overall, I don't think I'd make the trade.  I am a big Chris Johnson fan, but the fact that he will only score on long runs really hurts his value when compared to Slaton.  Slaton, in his first start, put up over 100 on the  Titans and scored a TD.  They don't allow 100 rushers very often so this was a big accomplishment.  He's not sharing carries the way Johnson is which is another reason I think he's more valuable.  I do like Roy Williams better than Branch so this is a fair trade.

Basically, I'd say if Johnson/Slaton would be on your bench anyway, I'd take the trade because you're getting a better WR.  If you're going to start one of those RBs, I think you should keep Slaton at least for one more week.  If he can produce against the Jags, who are a decent run D team, you may not want to get rid of him.

Very fair trade and you'd be doing well to make the trade or stand pat.

Slaton was impressive last week against Tennessee and although it was against a good defense, it was just one game.  Johnson has been consistently good, averaging 92 yds/game even though he shares touches with White.  That's mighty impressive.    Branch may need some time to get back up to speed.  Both he and Williams have a history of missing games due to injury however Williams has been more productive fantasy-wise.  I'd like to see more of Slaton but if I had to make a decision right now, i'd probably make this deal and grab Johnson.

Thanks guys.  I did accept the offer.  I do like Williams for Branch.  I kind of had Branch stached on my bench waiting in the wings.  I do think he'll make an impact, but maybe not right away.  I'm not thrilled about giving up Slaton, but I agree with SouthernEagle.  Through 3 games, Johnson has 276 rushing yards, 51 receiving and 1 TD.  Slaton has 159 yards, 14 receiving and 1 TD.  Johnson has been more consistent and I feel he's on a better offensve.  All things considered, I think it was a good move for me.

Thanks for the help with the decision process!!

No problem.  I agree with your decision to make the trade.  I hope it works out for you.  Good Luck!
