Gonzalez to Falcons
Atlanta traded a 2nd round pick in 2010 to Kansas City for Tony Gonzalez. In terms of fantasy, Gonzo was the top TE in the league in a less than dynamic offense last season and should remain at or very close to the top of the heap again in 2009. The Falcons offense has many weapons that should compliment each other well to provide nice balance. You have to like Matt Ryan's prospects for this season even more with this addition. For KC, they get a first day pick for a 33-year old playing a position that isn't emphasized in Todd Haley's offense.

I love this trade for the Falcons. They just gave Matt Ryan another weapon to go with Roddy White & Jenkins. When you add Michael Turner to the mix, Atlanta will have one of the most expolsive offenses in football.
Matt Ryan's fantasy value definitely went up after this trade.
Look for the Falcons to be in the playoffs again as long as they stay healthy.
Well said on the fantasy football impact this move will have. Im impressed atlanta made the move, and seeing they did give up a 2nd round pick for gonzo, I do believe the Falcons want to win.
I was really shocked the EAGLES didnt make this move, or at least be more involed. Mcnabb and company would have became a solid choice to advance in the NFC playoffs with that move. The cap room, and extra picks, i was sure this would be the guy the eagles would land to beef upa very good offence. Im shock, but again, impressed with the move, i think it will pay huge down the road for ryan and the falcons.
Yes, I certainly would have been thrilled had the birds made this move for Gonzalez. I think that they would have positioned themselves as the team to beat in the NFC, with an offense that would have made you pick your own poison. A 2nd-rounder is steep for a guy that says he'll only be around another 2 years but then again there are no guarantee's in a draft. Teams have missed with the #1 overall pick, let alone selecting in the 2nd round. Here's a proven pro-bowler that's probably the best TE in the history of the game and is still performing at a high level as his 2008 season attests to. This would've cost much less than a guy like Boldin and yet still allowed the Eagles to draft a RB or WR with the 21st pick. I'm still wondering what Philly's plan turns out to be today.
