NFL Week 1

The Eagles defense played much better than I had anticipated. I had concerns about the loss of Bradley at MLB, of the leadership of Dawkins, and the passing away of our defensive guru. Chances are that in week 2, the Saints won't be forced into anywhere near the amount of turnovers that the Eagles D was able to generate versus the Panthers. Combine that with the loss of McNabb and this team faces an extremely difficult task this week. Still, in situations such as these it is interesting to see how a team responds to adversity.

Being down here in south Florida, one of the games I was able to catch a part of was the Tampa-Dallas game. The Bucs face many challenges of their own this season but I expected that their secondary would play much better then it did in this game. Safety Sabby Piscitelli, especially made a ridiculous mistake on the Crayton TD that basically allowed the cowboy receiver and Romo to play a game of catch. We'll see how the girls handle themselves this week against much stiffer competition in the form of the Giants. Like many of their fans, dallas lacks heart which can be attested to by the 44-6 ass-whipping handed to them by Philly with the season on the line in week 17 last year.

Tom Brady and the Pats looked to be headed for a week 1 loss but the Bills continued their losing ways and opened the door for Brady to play hero and show that he's back and ready to go.

Did the Raiders impress you in their loss to the Chargers late last night? Teams better not take that team lightly. They got tremendous line play on both sides of the ball and have enough playmakers to make life difficult for their opponents this year. I'm no Raider fan but its good to see them heading in the right direction.
